truLAN has never been super well defined in terms of what it offers.
It all started out with an old used DELL PowerEdge server that I got from eBay combined with a raspberry pi device.
At one stage, truLAN was a collection of raspberry pi devices all interconnected and serving different roles.
One pi would run the VPN & update Dynamic DNS Entries, another would run the local ad-blocking and caching DNS, another would run a video game server, another a website and yet another would run a NAS. It was a good bit of fun and helped me learn technology while providing myself and housemates some useful services
Later, it became a single device and the services became available to friends and family. It could also now host and stream videos!
Now? in 2024? truLAN is a registered business name with the hopes of turning into something I can continue doing as a job.
And that’s where this website comes in. Hoping to have a place where people can view some stuff about me but mostly about all the truLAN things that are happening, have happened and might happen in the future. Its a daunting task starting any business and working on my own, but its a challenge I hope that my previous experience in corporate IT, technology diploma from TAFE and the TAFE course I am currently enrolled in studying business will all come together.
